Our Mission
Environment and Human Rights Advisory is a non-profit corporation chartered in the state of Oregon in the United States. Its primary work has been to encourage a human and nature’s rights approach to environmental issues. Its projects include:
a) Providing environmental Human Rights Impact Assessments to environmental organizations, private firms and government agencies regarding the human rights dimensions of their work. Our HRIAs are intended to provide even-handed, referenced ethical analyses, based on widely recognized and adopted human rights instruments. Just as scientific studies can serve as documentation for matters of fact that may be controversial in a dispute, environmental Human Rights Impact Assessments can serve as documentation for questions of value.
b) Helping to initiate and organize the Permanent People’s Tribunal Session on Human Rights, Fracking and Climate Change.
c) Encouraging and supporting the work of Youth Climate Courts.
