Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment
The Global Network for the Study of Human Rights and the Environment (GNHRE) is a recently established project with two main elements:
- a JISCMAIL network of scholars.
- a website hosting a virtual research repository.
The JISCMAIL list aims to build a creative, interactive space for collaboration on themes and projects related to the interface between human rights and the environment: co-publication initiatives, joint funding bids, events planning – all these and more can be facilitated freely through the list. Although there are list facilitators, the list is a true network, with no hierarchy or centre – just a space in which interests can converge fruitfully. To join, just email GNHRE and ask to be added to the list.
This web-based project is a host-site for an online research repository, currently being built. We need a wide network of scholars willing to send in abstracts and links to papers, references etc, in order to make available the widest possible range of research to the academic, policy-making and NGO/civic communities in this important field. The project also seeks to publish (and welcomes) items of news, and country/regional updates on issues relevant to human rights and the environment – and would also welcome the submission of research profiles listing publications records, areas of interest and activity etc.
The Journal of Human Rights and the Environment is officially linked to the GNHRE.
Abstracts and links to papers, or papers themselves can be emailed to GNHRE. Pass the word! Together we can build a wonderful resource that adds value to the work that all of us do.
The website and repository are available here.
